Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Kimolia, Inc. ("Kimolia," "we") collects on kimolia.com and through our early-access sign-up, how we use it, and the commitments we make to schools and districts about student data.
What we collect
We collect only what you type into our forms:
- Teacher sign-up: email, first and last name, school, district (optional), and state.
- School or district inquiry: school or district name, state, and a contact's name, role, email, and phone number.
- Contact form: your email, subject, and message.
This website is for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from students or from children under 13. Please do not include student information in any form or message. If you believe a child has sent us information, email info@kimolia.com and we will delete it.
How we use it
- To contact you about early access to Kimolia Studio.
- To reply to your questions and requests.
- To understand which curricula, schools, and states to support first.
We do not sell or rent your information. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that help us run this website, and only so they can provide that service:
- Google Workspace, to store form submissions and to deliver them to our team by email.
- Our website host, to serve this site.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it. If Kimolia is merged or acquired, this policy will continue to apply to information collected under it.
Cookies and analytics
This site does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking. If we add website analytics, we will use a privacy-focused tool, and we will update this page before we do.
How long we keep it
We keep your information until you ask us to delete it, or for no longer than 24 months after our last contact with you, whichever comes first.
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct, or delete your information, or to stop emailing you, at any time. Email info@kimolia.com. We will reply within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for making a request. These rights apply wherever you live, including California under the CCPA.
Student data in Kimolia Studio
When a school or district uses Kimolia Studio, a written agreement with that school or district governs student data. In every such agreement, we commit to the following:
- FERPA. We act as a "school official" under the direct control of the school, and we use education records only for the purposes the school authorizes.
- COPPA. Where students under 13 use the product, we rely on the school's consent for educational use only, as the FTC permits.
- State student privacy laws. We comply with applicable state laws, such as California's SOPIPA and AB 1584, and New York Education Law §2-d, including the Parents' Bill of Rights for Data Privacy and Security.
- Data privacy agreements. We will sign a data privacy agreement with each school or district, including state-standard agreements where they exist.
- We never sell student data, never use it for targeted advertising, and never build profiles of students for non-educational purposes.
- The school or district owns and controls its student data. We return or delete it at the school's request and when the agreement ends.
- We notify the school or district of any unauthorized access to student data as required by law and by our agreement.
How we protect information
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), restrict access to the staff who need it, and choose service providers with recognized security practices. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If the change is significant, we will also email the people on our early-access list.
